What is the base notice period?

Four weeks to the 15th or the end of a calendar month (§ 622(1) BGB).

How does it grow with the years?

For the employer it increases in steps: 1 month from 2 years, 2 from 5, 3 from 8, 4 from 10, 5 from 12, 6 from 15 and 7 months from 20 years, each to the end of a month (§ 622(2) BGB).

What applies during probation?

During an agreed probation period (at most six months) the notice period is two weeks (§ 622(3) BGB).
